April Cakes

I know it wasn't that long ago that Claire and I made our March cake, but with April quickly approaching we decided to make our next cake of the month for Easter. Claire and I each made a cake to take to our families this past weekend and it was interesting (and time-consuming!) to make the cake from start to finish without sharing the tasks.

Here are our Easter cakes for April!

Mine was lemon cake with raspberry icing -

Claire made a yellow cake with buttercream icing. I LOVE her flowers -

I'm already getting excited for next month's adventure in the kitchen!

  1. Oh my goodness! Did you have instructions to make those? Or did you design them yourselves? Those are both amazing!

  3. You girls have some serious skill! I've always wanted to try fondant, but I'm scared. Heck, I'm scared of baking, period. (which is why I barely do it) Anyway, LOVE these! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

  6. beautiful work! Ashlee, I love your flowers. They look like tiny succulents.

Claire, looks pretty enough for a wedding, esp. on your china.

I'm showing you off to my friends.

  8. Thanks everyone!
Jess, we did teach ourselves. We got some fondant and gumpaste and just played around with it. I think you should try it for sure!

  9. I might never be crafty, but will always admire the beauty in others' work. When I saw what flavors they were I wanted to eat them, but when I saw the actual cakes... these are both so gorgeous, each with their own personalities. =)
